Past Events in 2025

Mothers Union Children’s Educational Support Program: The Mothers Union organized a heartfelt Children’s Program that brought joy and meaningful support to young members of our church family. Five deserving children were blessed through this initiative—two from the Sunday School, two from the Sinhala Congregation, and the Sexton’s son. Each child received a Sarasavi Book Voucher valued at LKR 2,500 to encourage their educational journey. In addition, they were gifted brand-new school bags and shoes, generously sponsored by one of our dedicated parish members. This initiative beautifully reflected the Mothers Union’s loving spirit and commitment to nurturing the future of our church community.

Elders & Children’s Day Celebration: Elders & Children’s Day was joyfully celebrated at Christ Church Galkissa, honoring our roots while blessing the generations to come. The occasion brought together parishioners of all ages in a spirit of gratitude, unity, and faith. It was a meaningful reminder of the importance of intergenerational love and care within our church family.

Blessing and Inauguration of the Solar Power System: Our parish marked a significant milestone with the blessing and inauguration of a new solar power system. This project was part of a government initiative that supported over 2,000 religious institutions across Sri Lanka. Through the dedication and perseverance of a few committed parishioners, this vision became a reality. The inauguration symbolized not only progress, but also our commitment to sustainability and responsible stewardship of God’s creation.

Community Kitchen Ministry: Throughout 2025, the Community Kitchen continued its mission without pause, serving a warm lunch every Saturday of the year to all who came seeking a meal. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our volunteers, not a single Saturday was missed. We were also blessed by the return of The Samaritans in Sri Lanka, who rejoined us in the kitchen from May, cooking alongside us as they did when the ministry first began three years ago. Each week, over 150 meals were served, and our outreach expanded further to include St. Rita’s Home in Mount Lavinia and the Deaf School in Rathmalana. This growing ministry stood as a powerful testament to compassion, service, and community partnership.
